Irvine Chamber Offering $10,000 for Best Business Plan by a Digital Media Firm |
|
|
|
Competition is Part of the Digital Irvine Program
In conjunction with the Irvine Entrepreneur Forum, the Irvine Chamber of Commerce is offering $10,000 to the best business plan from a digital media company either located in or willing to relocate to the city of Irvine as part of its Digital Irvine program.
The business plan should be creative and unique, showcasing the company’s use of digital media. Business plans from established companies as well as startups are welcome and the winner will be announced at the June 1st Irvine Entrepreneur Forum.
“We’re bullish on the market and want to attract the best digital media companies possible to Irvine,” said Chris Lynch, vice president of Economic Business Development at the Irvine Chamber. “By making this offer we are putting our resources behind our commitment to build the robust digital media cluster in the city.”
The Digital Irvine initiative is designed to attract digital media firms to the city and to build awareness about the size and vitality of the digital media sector in Irvine. It focuses on the benefits of doing business in Irvine, such as the existing digital media anchor companies, large employee talent pool, proximity to the entertainment industry, the convenient location near John Wayne Airport and major freeways, and the University of California at Irvine.
The first Irvine Entrepreneur Forum will be held on June 1, 2010 and will be an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to make pitches to angel and venture capital investors. The day-long forum, made possible by a grant from the OC Workforce Investment Board, is going to be held at the University of California at Irvine’s Beckman Center. The Chamber is also offering a similar prize for best “seed” level presentation.
To enter the competition, send a 2-3 page executive summary of the business plan in either Word or PDF format to clynch@irvinechamber.com by 5:00PM March 30, 2010. For more information and to register, please visit www.irvineecondev.com, or call Christopher Lynch, at (949) 660-1120 ext. 117. The winning company must either be currently located in, or will to relocate to Irvine. |
